The Nexus project was conceived by Evolution's founders in 1998. They observed a number of emerging factors affecting television production including the increasing demand for content, significant business cost pressures and increasing production costs.

Their vision was motivated by the need for improved technology to create operational improvements in studio and outside broadcasting. Management identified the significant opportunities through re-engineering technology configurations, production processes and staff deployment with the transition to digital technology.
